Britt man given deferred judgment on meth charge, placed on probation

BRITT — A Britt man who pleaded guilty to a possession of methamphetamine charge has been given a deferred judgment and placed on probation.
A criminal complaint stated that 26-year-old Trinity Thompson was seen driving on 190th Street in Hancock County on November 21st. When Thompson allegedly saw a marked patrol vehicle, he pulled over and jumped into the passenger seat due to his driver’s license being barred. While arresting Thompson, investigators say they found a large plastic baggie containing 17.8 grams of methamphetamine in this left coat pocket. Thompson was originally charged with intent to manufacture or deliver meth over five grams, a Class B felony.
Thompson had pleaded not guilty to the charges in December, but as part of a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty in February to one count of possession with the intent to deliver, a Class C felony.
District Judge Chris Foy this week sentenced Thompson, granting a deferred judgment and placing Thompson on three years probation.
