Major severe weather event possible on Monday in north-central Iowa

MASON CITY — The National Weather Service says they’re watching things closely for a potential major severe weather event forecast for Monday.
The Storm Prediction Center has the majority of the state of Iowa in an “Enhanced Risk” for severe weather on Monday afternoon and evening. It’s the third highest level on their five-tier scale of forecasting severe weather.
The Weather Service says numerous severe storms are possible with multiple threats of large hail, damaging thunderstorm winds and tornadoes possible.
They do note that the risk level and area of coverage of the storms may still yet change over the weekend.
