Clear Lake alum, Northern Iowa senior Penning signs as undrafted free agent with Baltimore

BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Ravens have signed Clear Lake High School alum and University of Northern Iowa offensive lineman Jared Penning as an undrafted free agent.

Penning is the younger brother of New Orleans Saints tackle and Newman alum Trevor Penning, who was a first-round pick for the Saints.

The 6-foot-5 and 310 pound Jared Penning played both right guard and left tackle while at UNI, earning Missouri Valley Football Conference all-conference honors and a spot on the Reese’s Senior Bowl watchlist.

Penning is believed to be the first Clear Lake High School alum to have signed a contract with an NFL team.
