Grassley hopes year-round E15 sales legislation will pass Congress this year

WASHINGTON — Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley is applauding the Environmental Protection Agency’s announcement on Monday they were issuing an emergency waiver to allow the sale of E15 nationwide during the summer driving season this year.

Grassley thanks President Trump for understanding the importance of year-round E15 sales.  “This all started with Trump recognizing what was wrong with not having summertime use of E15, hurting agriculture, hurting the ethanol industry. He started this one-year waiver either in 2019 or 2020. Thank god it continued during each year of the Biden Administration.”

Grassley hopes this will be the last summer driving season that a waiver has to be issued and legislation allowing for year-round E15 sales will get passed through Congress this year.  “That’s because I hope a bill that I co-sponsored, a bipartisan bill, that would allow E15 sales year-round and nationwide, that would pass. As my colleagues and I continue working to move this bill forward, I hope that President Trump and Administrator Zeldin will remain outspoken in their support of legislation for ethanol year-round nationwide.”

Grassley says he won’t give a timeline on such a bill passing as ag leaders in Congress have to prioritize passing a full five-year Farm Bill as well as the tax bill.
