MASON CITY — The sentencing date has been scheduled for a Mason City woman arrested on a meth dealing charge after she recently entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors.

38-year-old Keyanna Garrett was arrested in March after being accused of knowingly and unlawfully possessing a white crystal substance resembling meth with the intent to deliver. A criminal complaint says Garrett possessed about 9.78 grams of the substance and several small baggies commonly used to sell meth. Garrett is also accused of possessing marijuana after being previously convicted of marijuana possession back in 2023.

Garrett was charged with: a Class B felony-level controlled substance violation; one count of failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a Class D felony; as well as possession of marijuana second offense, a serious misdemeanor. Garrett recently entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors, pleading guilty to one count of possession with the intent to deliver meth, a Class C felony, as well as possession of a controlled substance third offense, a Class D felony.

Prosecutors are recommending a total of a ten-year suspended prison sentence and three years probation when she’s sentenced on June 9th in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
