Norma “Noni” June (Anderson) Farrell, 79, of Mason City

Norma “Noni” June (Anderson) Farrell, 79, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center with family at her side.

Norma was born on April 8, 1946, to John and Elsie (Statzer) Anderson. Norma grew up in Mason City, where she graduated from Mason City High School in 1964 and developed deep roots in the community she cherished throughout her life. On June 5, 1965, she was united in marriage to Jerome “Diz” Farrell at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together they built a beautiful life, raising two children and sharing nearly five decades of love and partnership until Jerry’s passing.

Norma was a devoted wife, mother, “Noni”, and friend. She supported her husband throughout their marriage, and together they found joy in family gatherings, and attending their grandchildren’s events. She was the steady heart of the Farrell home—gracious, warm, and endlessly caring.

She was known for her love of her home and was always decorating and tending to her pristine yard and flower gardens. She loved her many Yorkshire Terriers over the years and they joined her wherever she went. Always well put together, Norma will be remembered for her classic style and never left the house without her hair set and makeup on to greet family and friends.

Her greatest pride was her family. Norma is survived by her children: Jeff (Nancy) Farrell of East Bethel, MN, and their children, Jasmin, Matthew, Abby and Joey; and Michelle (Kurt) Lamers of Mason City, and their children, Courtney (Eric), Mackenzie (Sayer), Brogan, and Peyton. She is also survived by her brother, Kenny (Ruth) Anderson of Mason City; brothers-in-law Ed (Audrae) Farrell of West Des Moines and Mike (Gerene) Farrell of St. Charles; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome “Diz” Farrell; her parents, John and Elsie Anderson; her in-laws, Urban and Virginia Farrell; and her siblings, Doris (Herb) Coleman, Donald “Bub” (Alice) Anderson, Harold (Loretta) Anderson, Danny (JoAnn) Anderson, Jim (Mary) Anderson, and Barbara (John) Davisson.

Norma’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Nora Springs Care Center, palliative care and the staff of 5 West at MercyOne North Iowa.

Those wishing to honor Norma’s memory may make memorial donations to Hospice of North Iowa or the Humane Society of North Iowa in her name.

A Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, April 29, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel.
