Patricia F. Thompson, 93, of Mason City

Patricia F. Thompson, 93, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
Born April 21, 1932, on the family farm in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, Patricia was the daughter of Charles “Bud” Huntley and Olge Jane (Carroll) Huntley. Her early years were spent in Mason City, then Des Moines, and eventually back to Mason City, where she proudly earned her high school diploma on February 14, 1967.
A lifelong caregiver, Patricia devoted her days to nurturing others. She lovingly cared for her disabled husband, her aging parents, her children, and her grandchildren. Later in life, she worked in various roles including housecleaning, managing her father’s rental properties, providing daycare, serving in the school cafeteria, and working as a retail clerk. In every role she took on, her heart for service shone brightly.
Patricia’s faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Mason City, she was a true follower of the Lord, living out her beliefs through kindness, humility, and unwavering strength.
In addition to her work and faith, Patricia found joy in painting figurines and tending to flowers and plants. She was the proud matriarch of her family, always offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Duane) Hicok of Mason City and Kim (Jim) Benttine of Osage; cherished friends who became family, Janet (Richard “Dick”) Fellin of Hanlontown and Bob (Kim) Ruehlow of Mason City; granddaughters, Pamela Diekhuis of Mason City, Jennifer Mallo (Jay Peterson) of Goodell, Kelly (Dalton) Carter of Grapevine, TX, Nicole (Darrin) DeWalle of Osage and Don DeWalle, of Osage; great-grandchildren, Jamison Diekhuis (Morgan Leider), Dylan Mallo (Myracle), Devin DeWalle, Maleah Benttine, Valentina DeWalle, and Damon DeWalle; great-great-grandchildren, Novah, and Maverick; brother, Charles (Beverly) Huntley; and sister-in-law, Shirley Sletten as well as her nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin Thompson; and her son in law, Terry Diekhuis.
Patricia’s life was a testament to selfless love, deep faith, and tireless devotion to family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am, Friday, May 2, 2025 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City with Pastor Melanie Greengo of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Patricia’s family will greet relatives and friends at 9:00 am Friday morning at the funeral home.
A Graveside service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Marvin.
