NIACC starts regional softball play today

BOONE — The NIACC softball team starts regional tournament play as they travel to Boone to face Iowa Lakes in the Region 11-A tournament. The 4th-seeded NIACC is 33-21 overall while the 5th-seeded Iowa Lakes comes in at 30-27. The Trojans took all four games against Iowa Lakes in the regular season, including a doubleheader sweep in Mason City on April 19th. On the other side of the Region 11-A bracket, top-seed DMACC faces 8th-seed Hawkeye Community College in Friday’s other opening round game. The winners of Friday’s games meet in the second round on Saturday, with the winner of that game moving to the regional title game at noon on Sunday. Friday’s two losers meet in an elimination game on Saturday.
