NIACC men’s golf team seventh after first day of North Central District Championships

SIOUX CITY — The NIACC men’s golf team is in seventh place after day one of the three-day North Central District Championships at the Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City.

NIACC shot an opening round 310. Kirkwood was the leader after day one with a 289, while Northeast Community College of Nebraska and Southeast Community College of Nebraska were tied for second with each having a round of 295.

The top three teams qualify for the national tournament in Plymouth Indiana May 20th through the 23rd.

Sophomore Bennett Berger shot an opening-round 76 and is tied for 17th in the individual medalist competition. The top three individuals who are not on qualifying teams and are in the top 17 qualify for the national tournament.

Round two is set for later today while the final round takes place on Tuesday.
