Mason City native Jeff Horner hired to be head men’s basketball coach at Buena Vista University
STORM LAKE — Mason City native Jeff Horner has been named the new men’s basketball coach at NCAA Division III Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
Horner coached the last seven seasons at Division II Truman State University in Kirksville Missouri, where he compiled an overall record of 121-78, leading the Bulldogs to the Elite 8 in 2021. Horner and Truman State agreed at the end of the just-completed season that they would part ways.
Horner was the state’s Mr. Basketball in 2002 and went on to be the starting point guard at The University of Iowa for four years.
