Mason City police provide update on East Park shooting incident two weeks ago

MASON CITY — Mason City police have provided an update to a shooting in East Park two weeks ago.

Police responded to a shooting call in the vicinity of the Prairie Playground shortly before 9:15 PM on the night of Thursday April 24th, with the caller reporting a fight and possible shot being fired.

Police Chief Jeff Brinkley says 18-year-old Ladainian Pannhoff of Mason City was charged with being a prohibited possessor of a firearm. Brinkley says Pannhoff was arrested on April 28th and has posted bond pending his next court appearance.

The victim of the gunshot has been identified as 18-year-old Ean Arp of Mason City. He sustained gunshot wounds and was hospitalized at MercyOne North Iowa but has since been released.

Brinkley says the parties in this incident were known to one another prior to the shooting, and the investigation into this matter is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.
