Britt man pleads guilty to Floyd County meth charge

CHARLES CITY — A Britt man charged in Floyd County on a methamphetamine possession charge has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
A criminal complaint says 56-year-old Donald Lange was stopped back on June 29th on US Highway 218 near Charles City for an equipment violation. After further investigation, the county’s drug dog was deployed on the vehicle and gave a positive alert. Authorities found a small plastic bag with more than five grams of meth and two glass pipes used to smoke narcotics.
Lange was originally charged with one count of possession of meth with the intent to deliver, a Class B felony, but as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, he pleaded guilty on Monday to a Class C felony-level possession with the intent to deliver charge.
Prosecutors will recommend a suspended ten-year prison sentence when Lange is sentenced on July 7th in Floyd County District Court.
