Group to help connect young professionals in north-central Iowa starting in north-central Iowa

MASON CITY — A group to help connect young professionals in north-central Iowa is getting started and will have an event next week heading into the start of the North Iowa Band Festival. “North Iowa LINC”, with LINC standing for leadership, inclusion, networking and community, is designed to empower and connect young professionals in the area, fostering personal and professional growth, creating a supportive network, and giving back to the community through collaboration and engagement.

Joe Burgmeier is one of the organizers of the group, which is being supported by the Mason City Chamber of Commerce.  “The Chamber as a whole thought that this would be a group that would benefit north Iowa just getting young people or young professionals a chance to connect with one another, giving them leadership events to attend and just something to do that could benefit young people in the area, and then also businesses by investing in their new, younger employees.”

Burgmeier says the group feels that they want to have events that are geared toward young professionals to provide a perfect chance to network. “We did one event already at a North Iowa Bulls hockey game and had 60 people under 40 there, just trying to meet people and get out in the community. So those people are there, the people are here in our area. We just need to give opportunities to meet, to connect and just give young people opportunities to get out in the community and learn about where they live.”

LINC will have an ice cream social next Thursday, May 22nd, from 4:30 to 6:00 in the Commerce Center at 9 North Federal Avenue. There’s no cost to attend, but you are asked to register so they can plan accordingly. Click here to RSVP
