Forte Openings Solutions in Mason City, Michael’s Cookies in Clear Lake plants closing
MASON CITY — Two Cerro Gordo County manufacturing companies have announced they are closing in documents filed with the state.
== Forte Openings Solutions, formerly known as Masonite, is closing their two buildings of operation in Mason City. The Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining website shows 47 employees will be impacted by closing their location at 2510 19th Southwest and another 46 employees will be let go by the closing of their facility at 1600 12th Northeast. The plants manufactured interior and exterior doors for residential new construction and repair, renovation and remodeling, and non-residential building construction. The layoffs are effective June 30th. A request for comment from the company was not immediately answered.
== Michael’s Cookies is closing their Clear Lake manufacturing facility. The Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining website shows 29 employees will be impacted by the plant closing, with the layoffs effective May 23rd.
