Winnebago layoffs detailed in state documents, company comments about “period of transition”

FOREST CITY — A state workforce website has updated the details of the layoffs at Winnebago Industries at their plants throughout Iowa. As we reported earlier this week, the recreational lifestyle manufacturer made the decision to announce layoffs internally, citing current inventory levels, challenging market conditions and lower consumer demand.
The Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining website states that 128 people will be laid off at the Forest City facility, 30 at the Lake Mills facility, 20 at the Charles City plant, and 18 at their Waverly production facility.
Company spokesman Daniel Sullivan tells Northiownow.com News that they are assisting affected team members during this period of transition, the company remains committed to the success of their flagship Winnebago brand, and they continue to be invested in the Iowa community.
