Mason City teen accused of continuous sexual abuse of a child enters into plea deal
MASON CITY — A Mason City man arrested for continuous sexual abuse of a child has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
A criminal complaint accused 18-year-old Trenton Wise of committing a sex act with a child age 13 or younger at a residence in Mason City between May and September of last year. Wise was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
Wise was due in court for a pre-trial conference on Tuesday, but court records show that as part of a plea agreement, he filed a written plea of guilty to one count of lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony.
According to terms of the agreement, prosecutors will recommend a suspended ten year prison sentence and five years probation when he’s sentenced on June 2nd in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
