Diers approved as Clear Lake’s next City Administrator
CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake’s City Council last night formally approved the appointment of Steve Diers as the next City Administrator. The city earlier this month announced that Diers, who is the current city administrator in Charles City, accepted an offer for the position, pending council approval.
During last night’s meeting, Mayor Nelson Crabb commended the council for whittling down 17 applicants for the position down to three finalists, and then selecting Diers for the job. “Steve Diers emerged as the clear choice. He brought with him a strong background in municipal leadership, financial management, and community development. With that, Steve deserves the appointment as our new city administrator, and I highly recommend that we approve this employment agreement that goes with.”
According to the agreement, Diers will have an annual salary of $172,000, and after a six-month satisfactory performance would increase to $177,000 on January 1st. His first day on the job will be July 7th.
