Band Festival gets into full swing today

MASON CITY — After last night’s opening concerts by the John Adams Middle School and Mason City Municipal Bands, the 86th annual North Iowa Band Festival continues throughout the weekend in downtown Mason City. 

 

== On Friday, food vendors will be open starting at noon, while the carnival opens at 4 o’clock. Performances this evening start with the Mason City High School Orchestra in the Principal Pavilion at 4:45 PM. The Mason City High School Jazz Band will perform on the downtown stage at 5:30. Following that on the downtown stage, Will Barnett & Company performs at 6:20 with Trophy Dads starting at 8 o’clock. 

 

== On Saturday, the 35th annual Stu Nevermann Memorial Run takes place at 8:00 AM. The Band Festival Parade starts at 10:00 AM at the corner of Trinity Lutheran Church along North Pennsylvania Avenue and runs down to East State Street, where the parade takes a left turn and goes down toward the John Adams Middle School complex. Events downtown start at the Principal Pavilion at 1:45 with the awards ceremony followed by a performance by the Mason City Dance Team at 2:30. Things then shift to the downtown stage with Noah Harris performing at 3:00, Of Old Magic at 4:00, BYOBrass at 6:00, and Not Quite Brothers at 8:00.
