Clear Lake’s acting city administrator says recent Washington DC lobbying trip already paying off

WASHINGTON — Clear Lake’s acting city administrator says a recent lobbying trip by local leaders to Washington DC is already paying off.
Jacob Widman says there were some unanswered questions about the city’s 4th Avenue South Multimodal Corridor Planning Project. “We had a question hanging out there on our 4th Avenue grant. We had done an amendment back in March, and there was a delay on that, and we hadn’t gotten a lot of feedback on why the delay was and what it meant for the grant. Met some people out there when we met with the DOT, and I got an answer on it this morning. There definitely is benefit from the trip and already seeing that.”
Widman made his comments during Monday night’s meeting of the City Council.
Clear Lake received a $300,000 federal grant for the 4th Avenue project, which is evaluating approaches to modernize the corridor connecting downtown to Interstate 35.
