Mason City man headed to prison for ten years after pleading guilty to burglary

MASON CITY — A Mason City man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to a burglary charge.

42-year-old Boe Dwine was arrested on April 15th after being accused of entering a home in the 600 block of 11th Northeast that morning which he had been previously banned from earlier this year. A criminal complaint states that while inside the home, he punched the resident and victim on the mouth causing swelling and bleeding. Dwine then allegedly punched the victim on the back of the head two or three times and pulled the victim’s hair, causing injury.

Dwine had been charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years, as well as purposely interfering with a 9-1-1 call. He entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors earlier this month, pleading guilty to second-degree burglary, a Class C felony.

District Judge Rustin Davenport sentenced Dwine this week to ten years in prison and ordered him to pay damages of $1043.
