Lucille Ann Schultz was born in Bloomfield, Nebraska on February 7, 1933, to parents Ernest and Katherine (Opkis) Schultz. As a young girl, Lucy moved with her family to Iowa, attending Bolan school and graduating from Mason City High School in 1951. Shortly after graduation, Lucy was united in marriage to Bernie Vierkant. To this union, the couple had four children. Lucy later married William (Bill) F. Billick, and the couple made their home in Mason City.
For many years, as her children were growing up, Lucy was a homemaker and day care provider. Later, she went to work as a seamstress in the drapery department at Winnebago Industries where she worked for over 30 years. She retired in 1995.
In her free time, Lucy loved gardening, sewing, crocheting and playing cards with friends. Later in life, she enjoyed playing Bingo and color by numbers. Lucy was the true matriarch of her family; nothing gave her more joy than seeing her family gathered together. She cherished the times spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Lucy will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her.
Lucy is survived by her children, Linda Wessels, Robert (Kathy) Vierkant, Carol Lester, and Vicki (Jeff) White; stepchildren, Jack Billick and Chris Hallorhan; 43 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, sister-in-laws, Norene Schwierjohann and Judy Schultz; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Bill Billick; parents; stepchild, Jo Brown; and siblings, Shirley, Harold, Jim, Don, and great-great grandson, Henry.
A very special and heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff at Manly Specialty Care who were like family to her and known as Grandma by many.
Arrangements are with Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, Iowa 50401, 641-423-0924, www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.
