Sentencing date set for Mason City teen on lascivious act charge

MASON CITY — The sentencing date has been set for August for a Mason City man accused of sexual abuse and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. 

A criminal complaint accused 18-year-old Trenton Wise of committing a sex act with a child age 13 or younger at a residence in Mason City between May and September of last year.

Wise was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison. 

Wise entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors last month, pleading guilty to one count of lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony.

According to terms of the agreement, prosecutors will recommend a suspended ten year prison sentence and five years probation when he’s sentenced on August 4th in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
