Hampton man pleads not guilty to attempted murder

HAMPTON — A Hampton man accused of attempted murder has pleaded not guilty.

22-year-old Isidoro Moreno Montalvo was arrested after a stabbing back on May 24th. Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 8th Southwest in Hampton where they found one male victim with multiple stab wounds.

The victim was taken to Franklin General Hospital and then air lifted to Mercy North Iowa in Mason City for further treatment.

Moreno Montalvo was charged with attempted muder, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison, as well as willful injury, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years.

He filed a written plea of not guilty in Franklin County District Court on Wednesday and waived his right to a speedy trial. Court records did not immediately indicate a trial date.
