High school roundup for Wednesday June 11th — Mason City High baseball, softball teams sweep Des Moines Lincoln

DES MOINES — The Mason City High baseball team swept a doubleheader at Des Moines Lincoln last night. The Riverhawks took the opener 15-8 after scoring three runs in the fifth, seven runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Gabe Ries and Eli Schultz each had two runs batted in to lead Mason City. The Riverhawks only needed five innings to take the nightcap 14-1, scoring seven runs in the third. Schultz picked up the win, striking out seven and only allowing one hit. Max Lang had two runs batted in. Mason City is now 10-7 overall and will be back on the road this evening when they travel to Marshalltown for a conference doubleheader.

DES MOINES — The Mason City High softball team bounced back from being shutout by Newman on Tuesday night with a 5-0 and 6-3 sweep at Des Moines Lincoln last night. Mason City is now 3-6 on the season and will travel to Marshalltown tonight in Iowa Alliance Conference Northern Division play.
