Mayor Crabb named as Grand Marshall for 4th of July Parade

CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake’s longtime mayor has been named as the Grand Marshal for this year’s 4th of July parade.
Nelson Crabb has been mayor for two decades. He came to Clear Lake in 1966 to teach fifth grade for a couple of years before transitioning to junior high, where he also coached a number of sports. Crabb later became the director of student services at the high school before later becoming the director of secondary education at North Iowa Area Community College.
Crabb will be finishing up his fifth four-year term as mayor at the end of the year. During that time, he has been an advocate for lake restoration and water quality improvements, a driving force behind the Surf District redevelopment project and the preservation of Main Avenue.
Crabb will be at the head of the parade, which starts at 10:00 AM on Friday July 4th.
