Three citations issued in Mason City as part of liquor license compliance checks in Cerro Gordo County

MASON CITY — Law enforcement throughout Cerro Gordo County have been conducting liquor license compliance checks this week as part of an Iowa Alcoholic Beverage Division program to monitor retail sales to underage persons.

The Mason City Police Department says on Tuesday, employees at three local businesses were cited for selling alcohol to a minor. The employee was cited for underage sales to a minor, which could result in a $645 fine.

The citations were issued to employees at Prime Wine and Spirits at 1104 North Federal, the Casey’s at 1361 12th Northwest, and HyVee WIne and Spirits at 551 South Illinois. Those violations will be reported to the ABD who will review each case for potential administrative action.

The Clear Lake Police Department says every establishment that was checked in Clear Lake passed the alcohol compliance checks earlier this week.
