Clear Lake council to discuss street & utility improvements east of Veterans Memorial Golf Club

CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake’s City Council tonight will set a public hearing and the bid letting process for the first phase of this year’s street and utility improvements.

The council back in March approved entering into a professional services agreement with Veenstra & Kim for the 2025 Street & Utility Improvements project for the neighborhood immediately to the east of the Veterans Memorial Golf Club. The city identified this area as needing water main, storm sewer and pavement rehabilitation improvements. The estimated budget for the whole project is $1,641,500, which will be completed in two phases.

Acting city administrator Jacob Widman says plans and specifications have been developed for the first phase consisting primarily of water main and storm sewer improvements and is ready to move to the bid process. The estimated budget for the first phase is $903,500.

If approved by the council, bids would be due into the city on July 17th, with the council holding a public hearing and awarding a contract at their July 21st meeting. The completion date for the first phase of the project would be scheduled for November 21st.

The Clear Lake City Council meets tonight at 5:30 at City Hall.
