Extreme Heat Watch this weekend for all of Iowa

MASON CITY — An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect for the entire state of Iowa from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a heat wave to begin across Iowa on Friday and intensify into the weekend, resulting in several consecutive days of dangerously hot and humid conditions that may last into early next week. Heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees are possible at times throughout the weekend.

Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
