CLEAR LAKE — Mason City scored six runs in the third and four more in the sixth as part of their 11-1, six inning win last night over Clear Lake, in a non-conference baseball game that you saw on northiowanow.com. Gabe Ries and Marquez Holton each knocked in a pair of runs for the Riverhawks, while sophomore Owen Rickers picked up the win, giving up an unearned run while striking out 11. Mason City is now 13-7 on the season and will host Algona tonight in a non-conference doubleheader. Clear Lake drops to 8-7 overall and travel down to Red Oak tonight.

MASON CITY — After giving up four runs in the top of the fifth, Newman came back with one run in the sixth and three runs in the bottom of the seventh as the #14/1A Knights beat #8/2A West Fork 6-5 last night in Mason City. Avah Hanig had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored while Mazie Marquis had two hits, two runs and RBI to lead Newman. The Knights are now 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the Top of Iowa Conference East Division. They’ll host Nashua-Plainfield tonight. West Fork drops to 6-2 in the conference and 10-4 overall and will travel to Northwood-Kensett tonight.
