Ruth E. “Lainey” Baker, 101, of Clear Lake

Ruth E. “Lainey” Baker, 101, of Clear Lake passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025 at the IOOF Home, Mason City. 

Memorial Services will be 10:30am Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N Pennsylvania Ave, Mason City, IA 50401 with Rev. Pastor Dan Gerrietts officiating. 

She will be laid to rest at Clear Lake Cemetery in a private family committal.

 Lainey was born February 19, 1924, in Clear Lake, IA to Danish immigrants Jens Peter Jensen and his wife Kathrine Marie Sorensen Jensen. She graduated from Clear Lake High School and worked for the War Department in Washington, D.C. She returned to Clear Lake and worked for the United Home Bank in Mason City IA. She married her high school sweetheart, Frank R. Baker on June 20,1943. After Frank came home from military service in WWIl they began actively farming on the family farm at Baker’s Corner in Clear Lake where they raised their two sons. Lainey was active in her church and her farm community. Frank and Lainey moved into town in Clear Lake in 1980 and spent many happy years traveling in their camping trailer.

Ruth is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary L. Baker of Clear Lake; her grandsons, Jeff (Amanda) of Lisbon, IA, David of Cary, NC, and Mark (Shelby) of Ann Arbor, MI; her granddaughter Heather (John) Eidt of Bloomfield Hills, MI; her great grandchildren Axel Ray Baker-Newport of Ann Arbor, MI, and Lizzie and Jack Eidt of Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Frank, and two sons, Jon F. Baker and Michael R. Baker.
