Two Cerro Gordo County golf clubs cited for underage sales of alcohol

MASON CITY — The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says two businesses failed during recent alcohol compliance checks. The office, in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Revenue’s Alcohol & Tax Compliance Division, conducted the checks.
Employees from the Pleasant Valley Golf Club in Thornton and Linn Grove Country Club in Rockwell were cited for selling alcohol to underage persons. The scheduled fine for the violation is $645 plus court costs.
Deputy Cole Arndt says by partnering with the Iowa Department of Revenue, they hope to educate liquor license employees and maintain a compliant retail environment in the community.
He says the Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping alcohol products out of the hands of underage persons in Iowa.
