North Iowa Youth Center in Mason City among Iowa Character Awards winners this year

DES MOINES — The North Iowa Youth Center in Mason City is among the winners being announced as part of the Iowa Character Awards for 2025. The awards program highlights the people, teachers, communities and organizations that are helping to make positive changes across the state. 

The program was founded at Drake University in 2005 and is administered by the university’s  Robert D. and Billie Ray Center. It honored more than 200 Iowans. 

The Organization of Character Award goes to the North Iowa Youth Center, which has been cited as being an important part of the Mason City community for over 25 years, inspiring young people to believe in their potential and live healthy, purpose-driven lives. The Youth Center offers a welcoming space filled with games, creating activities, guest speakers, and leadership opportunities for youth of all backgrounds.

This year’s awards ceremony is scheduled for August 1st in the Des Moines metro area.
