CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake softball team used a seven-run sixth inning and then held off a late rally to beat Forest City last night 11-9, as you saw on northiowanow.com. Madi Ott was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in while Taylor Schwenn knocked in a pair of runs for the Lions. Forest City took a 3-0 lead after one inning, with the Lions tying it up in the bottom of the second. After the teams traded single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, Forest City scored three times in the top of the sixth, followed by Clear Lake sending 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth and scoring seven times. Forest City then loaded the bases in the top of the seventh and pushed across two runs, which wasn’t enough. Clear Lake is now 14-6 on the season and will host Humboldt in North Central Conference play tonight. Forest City drops to 8-6 and will host Estherville Lincoln Central tonight.
MASON CITY — #14/1A Newman picked up a pair of wins yesterday. In a make-up game played yesterday afternoon, the Knights beat #10/2A Central Springs 7-3. Newman then returned home to face Bishop Garrigan, and used a six-run second and three-run third to beat the Golden Bears 9-0. Newman is now 15-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference. The Knights have today off and will host Clear Lake on Thursday.

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake baseball team only needed five innings to beat Forest City 13-3 last night in non-conference baseball. Sophomores Keeton Jeppeson and Jackson Anderson both had three runs batted in to lead the Lions, while fellow sophomore CJ Lester picked up the win, striking out four. Clear Lake is now 11-8 on the season and will travel to West Fork on Thursday
MASON CITY — Newman scored single runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings in their 3-0 shutout of Bishop Garrigan at home last night in a Top of Iowa Conference crossover contest. Jase Anderson and Isaiah Kesten combined on a four-hit shutout, with Anderson striking out seven. Newman is now 15-5 overall and 10-0 in the conference. The Knights travel to West Fork this morning to complete a suspended game starting at 10:00 AM
