Mason City man indicted on federal drug, firearm charges

MASON CITY — A Mason City man has been indicted on federal drug and firearm charges.

50-year-old RT Harris was taken into custody on April 25th after authorities executed a search warrant at 1428 North Adams, where they allegedly found ice methamphetamine, marijuana and a stolen firearm.

Harris was originally charged in Cerro Gordo County District Court with: possession with the intent to deliver meth, a Class C felony; possession of a firearm by a felon and trafficking in stolen weapons, each a Class D felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

Harris had pleaded not guilty to the charges last month and was scheduled to be tried on July 15th, but on Tuesday the case was dismissed in district court due to Harris being indicted on federal charges in the case.

Harris has been charged in federal court with: two counts of distribution of methamphetamine as well as single counts of conspiracy to distribute meth; possession with the intent to deliver meth; possession of a firearm during and in furtherance of drug trafficking; possession of a firearm by a felon, drug user and domestic abuser; and possession of a stolen firearm.
