After most games rained out Thursday, full slate of high school baseball and softball today

MASON CITY — The weather wiped out a complete slate of high school baseball and softball games in our area last night, and with some rainouts the last few nights, schools are scrambling to fit games in prior to the start of tournament play.

Looking at today’s schedule:

5:30 — Newman at Central Springs (DH)
7:30 — St. Ansgar at West Fork
7:30 — Lake Mills at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura
7:30 — Belmond-Klemme at North Iowa

12:00 — Northwood-Kensett at Nashua-Plainfield
2:00 — Eagle Grove at Forest City
2:15 — Central Springs at Brian Erbe End of Season Classic in Jefferson vs. Ottumwa and Cedar Rapids Kennedy
5:00 — Eagle Grove vs. Lake Mills at Garner
5:15 — Rockford at Clarksville
6:00 — West Hancock at Forest City
6:00 — Belmond-Klemme at North Iowa
6:00 — Lake Mills at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura
6:00 — Newman at Northwood-Kensett

ALLISON — The only softball game that was completed yesterday was a noontime start between Newman and North Butler in Allison. The Knights scored twice in the first and three more times in the second for a 6-2 win. Newman is now 16-2 overall and 7-1 in the Top of Iowa Conference East Division. They will travel to Northwood-Kensett tonight.
