Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday to honor WWII Army Air Forces gunner from Iowa Falls
IOWA FALLS — Flags will fly at half-staff on Saturday to honor an Army Air Force gunner killed during World War II who is being brought back to Iowa.
Governor Reynolds has issued the order that all flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday to honor US Army Air Forces Corporal Melvin Huff, who was reported missing in action in January 1945 near Wewak Territory of New Guinea.
Huff’s unit attacked enemy positions on Cape Wom. Huff was accounted for in July 2024. He was 19 years old when he went missing in action.
Graveside services will be held for Huff on Saturday afternoon at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.
