Flood Warning in effect for Winnebago River

There’s a Flood Warning in effect for the Winnebago River until early Sunday morning. The National Weather Service in Des Moines says minor flooding is forecast for the river from Beaver Creek near Fertile through Mason City to the Shell Rock River near Rockford. Early this morning, the river at the main Mason City gauge was at 10.2 feet, slightly above the flood stage of 10 feet. The forecast is for the river to rise to a crest of 10.8 feet this afternoon and then fall below flood stage tomorrow evening.
== A pair of flood watches are in effect for other portions of north-central Iowa. A flood watch remains in effect from Saturday morning to late Sunday morning for the Iowa River from Belmond to Dows. Early this morning, the river at Rowan was at 9.7 feet, with the forecast having the river reaching flood stage of 12.5 feet late tomorrow morning. A flood watch is also in effect from Saturday morning to early Sunday morning for the Cedar River at Charles City. The river early this morning was at 6.4 feet. The forecast is for the river to reach the flood stage of 12 feet late Saturday morning.
