Grassley, Hinson raise concerns about continued Postal Service issues

WASHINGTON — Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley has written to the US Postal Service about concerns the institution is not fulfilling its service mission and sustaining financial self-sufficiency through its policies.
Grassley says Iowans from across the state have contacted his office this year to share their challenges with the mail.
Last fall, north-central Iowa congresswoman Ashley Hinson was among a bipartisan group of lawmakers who quizzed then-Postmaster General Louis DeJoy about many of the same concerns.
Hinson this morning during a conference call with reporters said she supports Grassley’s letter to the Postal Service raising concerns. “We have some serious reforms that need to be happening to make sure that not only rural Iowans continue to receive their mail, but that our network remains resilient in a time when obviously people need access to these services. I look forward to working with Senator Grassley to make sure the Post Office is delivering for the people of this country.”
Grassley in his letter says Iowans have reported issues with bills and checks not being delivered on time, missing mail, and increased delays in mail pickup.
