Huisentruit family releases statement on 30th anniversary of her disappearance

MASON CITY — The family of Jodi Huisentruit released a written statement this morning on the 30th anniversary of her disappearance on the “Jodi’s Hope” Facebook page.

They say it’s hard to fully comprehend that it’s been 30 years since Huisentruit was senselessly taken from them. The family stated their sincerest gratitude to all who have worked tirelessly on Jodi’s case and continue to do so, including law enforcement as well as those who run the FindJodi.com website.

They also thanked Jodi’s friends for their love and support they’ve provided over the last 30 years, saying that from interviews to establishing a foundation in Jodi’s name, they’ve been the family’s support system on this journey.

The family says the pain and anguish felt by them and all who loved Jodi are immeasurable. They say true peace will only be given to them when Jodi is found and justice is served for her, adding they know it’s hard to have hope for resolution after so many years, but they still choose to hope that one day soon it will happen.

The family also begs that if anyone has key information that could lead to helping solve the case that they come forward and not make them continue to wait for answers.

The family’s full statement:

It is hard to fully comprehend that it has now been 30 years since our dear Jodi was so senselessly taken from us. 30 years since we last saw her smile, heard her infectious laugh, or had a chance to hug her and tell her how much we love her. 30 years of her not being here with us to share in milestone events and make memories together. 30 years of pure anguish and torture dealing with the loss of our Jodi and trying to find answers to what happened to her 30 years ago today.

Jodi lived her life as an optimist, and she had a great passion for living life to the fullest. She was a bright light who made the world around her better just by being in it. Her kindness and heart were unmatched, and she had an innate ability to make those she met feel seen, heard, and valued. She had such a bright future ahead of her, and she should be here now living out her dreams.

Our sincerest gratitude to all who have worked tirelessly on Jodi’s case and continue to do so, including law enforcement and FindJodi. We will never be able to say thank you enough, and we wholeheartedly appreciate your dedication to finding Jodi and solving her case. To all of Jodi’s friends, a huge thank you for the love and support you have provided us over the last 30 years. From interviews to establishing a foundation in Jodi’s name, you have been our support system on this journey, and we are eternally grateful to all of you for your encouragement and for helping out whenever it was needed. Jodi always told us she had the most loyal friends, and you all have certainly proven her right. Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has shown up here today and all who have supported us and continue to have interest in Jodi, her story, and in seeing her case be resolved. Please know your interest and support mean the world to us.

The pain and anguish felt by us and all who loved Jodi are immeasurable. True peace will only be given to us when Jodi is found and justice is served for her. We know it is hard to have hope for resolution after so many years, but we still choose to hope that one day soon it will happen. Some days that choice is harder than others, but we will always choose hope and invite everyone else to join us in this. To anyone out there who has key information that could lead us to Jodi or help solve this case, we beg you to PLEASE come forward and not make us continue to wait for answers. 30 years is 30 years too long to wait for resolution. We implore you – if you know something, SAY something. Help us finally bring Jodi home.
