Iowa House Majority Leader Windschitl announces run for Iowa’s Fourth District seat in US House

MISSOURI VALLEY — The majority leader in the Iowa House has announced he’ll be running for Iowa’s Fourth District seat in the US House in 2026.

Matt Windschitl of Missouri Valley was elected to the Iowa House at the age of 22 in 2006 and has served as the House Majority Leader since the fall of 2019.

Windschitl served eight years in the Marine Corps, which included a tour of duty in Iraq in 2005.

Windschitl in a campaign announcement says he’s focused on continuing the strong, conservative leadership that the district deserves. He says he’s committed to cutting taxes and getting government off the backs of hardworking Americans while fighting to ensure Iowa’s values are represented in Washington.

Current Fourth District congressman Randy Feenstra announced earlier this year that he will be running for governor.

Two other Republicans — Siouxland Chamber of Commerce president Chris McGowan and state senator Lynn Evans of Aurelia — have announced plans to seek the Republican nomination for the seat.
