MASON CITY — Newman needed a walk-off sacrifice fly from Teagan Eisenlohr to knock in Isaiah Kesten with the winning run to beat Waterloo Columbus 5-4 in a Class 1A District 6 semifinal baseball contest last night. The 10th-ranked Knights survive and advance to the district final on Saturday, where they will host South Hamilton, who beat Janesville last night 6-4. On the other side of the Substate 3 bracket in District 5, 9th-ranked Kee beat Turkey Valley 6-0 and South Winneshiek edged Nashua-Plainfield 8-7. Those two teams will play their district final in New Albin on Saturday.
