Deferred judgment, probation for Mason City man who pleaded guilty to sexual abuse

MASON CITY — It’s a deferred judgment and probation for a Mason City man who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child.

20-year-old Jackson Oetken was arrested in December on charges of third-degree sexual abuse by force and third-degree sexual abuse of a child victim. Criminal complaints stated that Oetken committed sexual acts with a female under the age of 16 multiple times between October 1st and October 23rd, with one of the instances taking place at his home and another at East Park.

Oetken in March entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors, pleading guilty to one count of third-degree sexual abuse. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors recommended a suspended sentence and probation and said Oetken may request a deferred judgment at sentencing.

District Judge Gregg Rosenbladt this week issued a deferred judgment, sentencing Oetken to five years probation.
