Former Central Springs coach Nelson being inducted into IGCA Softball Coaches Hall of Fame

MANLY — A former Central Springs softball head coach has been selected to be inducted into the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s Softball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Belinda Nelson was the head coach at Central Springs from 2007 to 2021. She also was the head coach at Northwood-Kensett for one year and North Central for five years before North Central consolidated with Nora Springs-Rock Falls to create the new Central Springs district.

Nelson finished with a career coaching record of 472-206, with eight Central Springs teams making the state tournament. Nelson coached her team to 12 conference titles and was named Conference Coach of the Year eight times and District Coach of the Year twice.

Since Nelson retired from coaching, she continues to teach at the high school level and enjoys watching softball from the other side of the fence.

The official induction ceremony will take place during the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Annual All-Star Series on Saturday July 26th at the Waukee Softball & Baseball Complex.
