Hinson says Iowa corn, soybean leaders applaud measures addressed in “One Big Beautiful Bill”

WASHINGTON — North-central Iowa congresswoman Ashley Hinson says leaders in Iowa’s corn and soybean industry applaud measures addressed in the budget bill approved earlier this month by Congress and President Trump and remain hopeful for positive results from the latest round of tariffs.

Hinson says she met last week in her office with a delegation of representatives of corn and soybean groups.  “One of the things I think they were in here saying was they were grateful for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. That’s really going to be a shot in the arm for them. They were specifically thanking me for the foreign market access and market access programs and development dollars that we were able to include. Those are dollars that I obviously fought for in the Farm Bill last year, and we were able to get those across the finish line in the reconciliation package. They were very grateful and hopeful.”

Hinson says they also talked about the trade deals that are moving forward.   “Obviously the one with the UK is helpful for our producers, and the new announcement with Indonesia, potentially in Vietnam, and the framework with China, which I had a chance to talk with the president on Air Force One too. They are encouraged and we’re hopeful that we’re able to get more of these deals across the finish line as soon as possible.”

Hinson’s Second District includes Cerro Gordo, Worth, Mitchell, Floyd and Butler counties in our immediate listening area.
