Janet J. Nauman, 84 of Nora Springs, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Thursday, July 17, 2025 in Mason City.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Monday, July 21, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N Pennsylvania Ave, Mason City, IA with Rev. Beverly Butler officiating. She will be laid to rest at Eden Presbyterian Cemetery, Rudd, IA.
Visitation will be 5:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Janet Jean Mausehund was born June 11, 1941 in Mason City, the daughter of Herbert and Mary Jane (Strand) Mausehund. The eldest of six, Janet attended Rudd High School, graduating as the first class of Rudd Rockford Marble Rock in 1959. On December 12,1958 she was united in marriage to David O. Nauman at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Osage. To this union six children were born: Marilyn, Virginia, Bruce, Cindy, Sandra and Curtis.The family farmed near Floyd for many years. Along with the traditional responsibilities of the farm, Janet also worked at AMPI for over 30 years, and was the familiar face at Casey’s for over 20 years. Her favorite time was certainly running the combine in the fall.
Janet found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. Her hands were rarely still—whether she was tending to her colorful flower beds, knitting or crocheting something cozy, or working through a Sunday morning crossword and Bonanza Bill puzzle with a cup of coffee close by. For nearly five decades, she and David shared laughter and friendly competition as part of their beloved 500 Club—a tradition she proudly continued even after his passing. She loved to travel and found peace in the quiet moments of birdwatching, always on the lookout for a cheerful yellow finch or a bright red cardinal.
Her faith was a quiet strength in her life. Janet spent many years teaching Sunday School and serving on Altar Guild, living out her values with grace and devotion. She was strong-willed, hardworking, and determined, the kind of person who led by example and rarely sought recognition. But more than anything, she loved her family. Her greatest pride was her children, and her heart held a special place for her granddaughter, Kayla, whose presence brought her immeasurable joy.
Surviving are her children, Marilyn Nauman, of Nora Springs, Virginia (William “Bill”) English, of Mason City, Cindy (John) Angelicola, of Conway, SC, Sandra Nauman, of Mason City, and Curtis Nauman, of Nora Springs; granddaughter, Kayla English, of Mason City; daughter-in-law, Pamela Nauman, of Mason City; siblings, Larry Mausehund of St. Ansgar, and June (Frank) McFarland of Osage; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David; son, Bruce; parents, Herbert and Mary; siblings, Joan Gudmonson and Leslie (Linda) Mausehund; parents-in-law, Emmett Sr. and Hannah (Jannsen) Nauman.
