Mason City man accused of assault, stalking pleads not guilty

MASON CITY — A Mason City man accused of assault and stalking charges after two separate incidents earlier this year has pleaded not guilty.
38-year-old Jamie Evenson was arrested in June on one charge of stalking in violation of a no contact order, a Class C felony, as well as three counts of contempt of court in violation of the no contact order and two counts of assault causing bodily injury.
Criminal complaints state that Evenson allegedly has shown up at the Casey’s convenience store at 9th and North Federal on at least two separate occasions, violating the no contact order against a female, and has assaulted store employees, thrown rocks through windows at different locations that he believes the female is at, and sending multiple text messages threatening the female on a daily basis.
Evenson last week filed written pleas of not guilty to the charges, with his trial scheduled to start on September 2nd. He continues to be held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $12,000 cash-only bond.
