CARROLL — The state baseball and softball tournaments both start their five-day runs today with first-round action. St. Ansgar makes their fourth appearance in the state baseball tournament as the #3 seed in the Class 1A tournament, with the Saints facing 6th-seed Logan-Magnolia. St. Ansgar is 21-7 on the season and is led by senior Jayce Schwiesow, who is batting .449 with 24 runs batted in and also has a 6-1 record on the mound. Fellow senior Ryker Hoffman is batting .420 with 16 runs batted in. Logan-Magnolia comes in with a record of 21-5.
