Hampton man identified as victim in Dows crash into grain elevator

DOWS — The identity of the man killed after crashing into a grain elevator in Dows early Sunday morning has been released.
The Iowa State Patrol says a vehicle was heading southbound at a very high rate of speed at about 1 o’clock Sunday morning when it left the roadway, vaulted, and struck the concrete grain elevator. The vehicle came to rest against a metal door where it caught fire.
35-year-old Ty Borcherding of Hampton died as a result of the accident. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office as well as the fire departments from Dows, Belmond and Clarion.
