Grassley releases documents revealing FBI failed to fully investigate Clinton email server matter

WASHINGTON — Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, who is the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Monday released classified documents related to the FBI’s investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email server when she served in the federal government, revealing the FBI had failed to fully investigate the matter.
Grassley says the documents show an extreme lack of effort and due diligence in the FBI’s investigation of Clinton’s email usage and mishandling of highly classified information. “That’s not the way you handle that sort of confidential government information. There was evidence that the FBI knew about it, they turned a blind eye to the key evidence, and what I released proves that the Clinton investigation wasn’t thorough and complete as it ought to. In other words, the FBI was covering up for the Clinton candidacy for President of the United States.”
Grassley released the declassified materials which are part of an appendix to the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General’s 2018 report that reviewed the DOJ and FBI’s handling of the Clinton investigation. Attorney General Pam Bondi and other Trump administration leaders at other agencies declassified the materials and delivered them to Grassley at his request. “The FBI should not be weaponized this way for political purposes, but they were, and the information we released proves that.”
Grassley’s release of classified documents follows Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s claims that Obama-era officials reportedly manufactured and politicized intelligence to create a narrative that Russia was attempting to influence the 2016 presidential election.
