RAGBRAI spends night in Forest City, heads for Iowa Falls today

FOREST CITY — The Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa rolled into Forest City last night and heads for Iowa Falls today. The riders completed a 74 mile trek on Tuesday from Estherville to Forest City.

Harlan native Brad Stamper now lives in Eagle Colorado and is participating in his tenth RAGBRAI. He says he enjoys each ride in this event, with a number of things standing out. “The weather, the last couple of days has been nice and not too hot, cloudy, pretty darn nice. The cities have been awesome.”

Walt Weiland of Fresno California says he enjoys returning to Iowa, especially for the challenge of riding in RAGBRAI.   “I love coming back to Iowa again.  It’s just connecting with all the folks from all over the world. It’s a great challenge, today was 76 miles and i barely made it, but I’m quite happy to have done it.”

Today is the middle day of the week-long journey for bicycle riders as they go 72 miles from Forest City through Ventura, Meservey, Alexander, Latimer and Coulter before ending up in Iowa Falls.
